The objective of the course:
Understanding the basics of the structure of Sanskrit Grammar with a special focus on different types of nouns and verbs and simple derivational processes and different types of sandhis such as vowel, consonant, and visarga- SANDHIS as found in various Sanskrit prayers and the Vedic hymns.
Sanskrit prayers and Vedic suktams are written in contracted form and thus difficult to understand, with this knowledge you will be able to split the sentences into separate words for better comprehension.
*** Overview of Sanskrit alphabet and efforts used in pronunciation (Varadaraja's sutras in reference to the places of pronunciation)
*** Introduction to padas (words) and the dhatus (verbal roots)
*** Sandhis (vowel, consonant and visarga sandhis)
with practical examples from Sanskrit prayers and the Vedic hymns.
